A Guide to Home Style Trends in 2024

As this year unfolds, let's dive into an exciting topic that captures the interest of home owners and design enthusiasts alike – 2024 Home Style Trends. Our home is our sanctuary, a space that mirrors our personality and fits our needs. And what better way to keep it fresh as you consider home projects large and small than to incorporate some new design ideas?

As always, we’re happy to come by for a quick visit and consult with you about any changes you’re considering, with the goal of incorporating your personal style and blending that with upgrades that will increase the value of your home over time.

Last week, I heard from a number of clients and friends who were overwhelmed by paint color choices and just wanted a quick text with recommendations.  That’s fun for us too! With that in mind, design experts love:

Refined Minimalism: A long-standing trend that continues this year is the refined minimalism approach "less, but better." This style accentuates immaculate open spaces, subtle color palettes (especially blues), and high-quality, purposeful furniture giving your home a sleek, organized look, without compromising warmth or comfort.

Biophilic Designs: With an increasing focus on health and sustainability, biophilic designs are taking center stage. This trend focuses on integrating nature into our homes with ample natural light and nature-inspired textures and hues. Consider light wood floors, neutral modern furniture pieces or accent walls. This blend of nature and design aims to create spaces that promote well-being and tranquility.

Mixed Metals: Warm metals like copper, brass, and soft golds continue to rule in hardware and fixtures, providing an eye-catching elegance. Lastly, the popularity of geometric patterns, whether in textiles, art or accent walls, will continue, bringing visual interest and depth to interiors.

Multifunctional Spaces: With the continuing shift to more people working from home, spaces that are flexible and functional have never been more important. We're seeing living rooms with more built-ins, extended kitchens that include workspaces, and homes with two primary bedroom suites.   This trend will likely continue through 2024, with smart storage solutions and cleverly designed furniture that allow rooms to serve multiple purposes.

Embracing some of these trends as you update your home can help keep your home looking modern and inviting. Remember that trends are inspirational, not obligatory. The goal is to create a home that reflects your personal style and fits your lifestyle. So, whether you decide to go change paint colors or hardware, opt for the sophistication of minimalism, or bring the outdoors in, ensure it resonates with you. Here's to a stylish and comfortable home in 2024.
